These have been extremely valuable forums to allow APD to get feedback from the cycling community and make appropriate changes in policies so cyclists are treated fairly by law enforcement. Positive changes that came out of previous forums include a specific APD training module to make sure officers know and understand the law as it applies to cyclists and a citizen task force to deal with bike theft.
New for this year will be a portion of the evening dedicated to discussing a major new bike safety initiative being launched May 1st to kick off Bike Month.
The Austin Cycling Association wants to make sure the concerns of Austin cyclists are well represented and ACA Vice President Eileen Schaubert soliciting questions and concerns to be asked at the forum. Please e-mail questions to vp@austincycling.org .
