Posted Dec 30 2010 1:15pm
No full roundup of our comprehensive calendar this week. We’re in holiday hangover mode here plus there is not a lot of non-regular rides going on so here a few events you might want to know about.
Austin’s New Year (ANY) Celebration
Friday, December 31, 5 PM- 10:30 PM, Fireworks at 10:15, Auditorium Shores
This isn’t bike specific but the organizers are asking people to bike there, plus the Austin Bike Zoo will be in attendance with all their art bike goodness . Anyone and everyone is invited to the City of Austin’s family-friendly and alcohol-free New Year’s Eve celebration. And it doesn’t cost anything to have a good time because our celebration is FREE! So bring a couple of lawn chairs or a blanket out to Auditorium Shores for a night filled with live music, films, food, art, and other fun activities concluding with an early fireworks finale!
October Critical Mass Ride Friday, December 31, 5 PM, West Mall UT Campus
This bike jamming ride is designed to shout to the world that bikes belongs and occurs on the last Friday of the month. This one will be unique as it happens on the last day of the year. Wear your reveling outfit and bike to the New Years Eve parties afterwards. You never know what will happen, but don’t miss this foundation of the Austin bike culture we know today.
Bicycle Sport Shop’s Resolution Ride
Saturday, January 1, 8:30 am & 11am, Ride starts: 9am, Bicycle Sport Shop Parmer, 990 West Parmer Lane
I can think of no better way to start the year then to ride a bike. Join BSS in a resolution to ride more! The ride and afterride party is free but RSVP IS REQUIRED! This no-drop ride will be led by Austin Cycle Camp and will have 25 and 50 mile route options. The ride ends with organic breakfast tacos from the Taco Taxi and a keg of Real Ale and a raffle.
