Type: Recovery Ride

This was a ride that I needed. My legs were toasted after the last couple of days. My Saturday ride seems to be lurking somewhere deep down in my quads and when I want to put together a solid effort, it seems to just tell my muscle fibers not to contract. A ride like this one helps your muscles to recover and flush out all of the crap that lurks within.
Today is the last day of the month too. I looks like I will be about 100 points short of a TSS of 4,000 for the month. Man curse that Giardia -- it robbed me of two days of workouts, which means I would have easily met my goal for the month. Overall, it really isn't that big deal. My personality is such that goal achievement is important to me. I am one of those people who can focus on a goal and really doesn't realize there is life going on around them. That isn't always a good thing, so you have to be careful of what goals you set and how that impacts your priorities. Here is the graph from today:
I did get a 7.0 mile run last night on the treadmill. I felt really good during the run. I spent mile 6 at a 2.0 incline and mile 7 at a 4.0 incline. Both miles were tough, but Ironman St. George has some good uphills as part of the marathon. I focused on really using my hip flexors and picking up my legs instead of just shuffling them along. I am hoping that helps me in the late stages of the run.
