Strasburg Update

Posted May 02 2009 10:01pm
San Diego State pitcher Stephen Strasburg is at it again, dominating Santa Clara for eight innings and striking out ten.He is 10-0 on the year, with a 1.38 ERA and 147 strikeouts in 78.1 innings pitched. Ex Nationals GM Jim Bowden said that the decision to draft and sign Stephen Strasburg was made a long time ago. ESPN.com's Buster Olney talked to executives who think the Nationals may shut down Strasburg after they draft him. "If he were to somehow sign immediately, they wouldn't continue pitching him the rest of the year, because then his innings count would climb over 200, easily."

Strasburg fastball is sitting at 98 mph, touching 100 mph on occasion.
