Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti told the Los Angeles Times Thursday the team is "curious'' about free agent Pedro Martinez.
Martinez, who began his career with the Dodgers, wants to pitch for a contender in the National League, according to the report.
"He's somebody we're curious about," Colletti told the Times. "We know how great he has been, and we know how popular he is in Los Angeles."
Martinez, 37, pitched for the Dominican Republic in this year's World Baseball Classic, tossing six scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out six.
