Will long term nerve damage happen if herniated disks c5 c6c7 have been damaged over 3 years before being diagnosed & treated?

Was hurt in job related injury & found out that I have herniated disks. c5 & c6 were operated on in March of 2010, but c6 c7 wasn't found until today and is from original injury. Worried about long term nerve damage as time goes on if not treated quickly.
