Low back pain can be caused by many things.  In fact over 80% of individuals will suffer a severe episode of back pain at some point in their lives.  The most common causes are misalignments in the spine or pelvis, muscle spasm, strain/sprain injuries, or disc problems.  In addition to these there are specifics related to these four, such as: arthritis, disc protrusions, inflammed tissues to name just a few.  All of these contributors go hand and hand and can often cause one another.

Th bottom line is they all, one way or another, create pressure on nerves which is how you sense pain.  Because of this you can also get referral of pain, such as sciatica or leg pain, numbness and tingling, burning pain, bowel or bladder problems; again just to name some of the possible complications if the nerve pressure remains or becomes more severe.
