The Controversy over Disc Regeneration.

Posted Jun 02 2009 4:35pm

Can spinal discs regenerate ? Once a disc herniates can it heal ? I can tell you this, I never though so. That is until I witnessed it for myself. Sure, I knew that we could treat patients with disc conditions and make some of them feel better. I also knew that if we were to treat a freshly herniated disc (with physical therapy or conventional chiropractic) that we could often times reposition the disc and set the stage for healing in certain situations. The problems that I was struggling with were the chronic cases. The cases of back pain that would not respond to any form of treatment. In fact, sometimes conservative care would aggravate the condition.  Certain spinal conditions often times regress to the point where there is just so much loss of motion, inflammation, instability, and degeneration, that nothing seemed to help. The only choice seemed to be surgery or cortisone injections for pain control (a short term fix). This is why they created Spinal Decompression and the DRX 9000. Now we are able to treat these very difficult cases with great success.  I don't blame people for being skeptical. I was also. In fact, I spent over a year researching the technology before I purchased my first system. Now, after treating hundreds of patients I can honestly say, it was one of the best decisions I ever made.
