I am partial to Dr. McDougall. I would subscribe to his online newsletter and buy some of his books...especially if you are currently overweight or battling with chronic disease. The McDougall program is not 'all or none". The more you do the more you gain.
So...you can try it out and then do more and more. You be the judge. If you like the way you look and feel, do more. Chances are...you will be glad you did :)
