San Francisco Chiropractor and Herniated Disc Expert Comments:
Sciatica, which is mild to intense leg pain (or buttocks pain), is not much fun. Sciatica occurs when the sciatic nerve, or the nerve roots that form the sciatic nerve, are compressed. Other symptoms such as numbness and tingling in the legs or feet, and leg weakness can also be caused by pressure on the sciatic nerve.
So...How does the Sciatic Nerve become compressed?
Well, there are several ways this can happen. Here are a few:
A good chiropractor knows how to check your sciatica and find the underlying cause. In fact, my experience has been that traditional chiropractic care can handle up most cases of sciatica. Chiropractic can help all of the causes listed above. Some times only a little...sometimes completely.
In the event that a patient with sciatica does not respond to chiropractic care at my San Francisco Back and Disc Pain Center...we would refer out for an MRI of the lumbar spine to see if there were any disc herniations or lumbar stenosis.
If there are...we consider non-surgical spinal decompression with the DRX9000. The DRX9000 was designed to treat herniated discs in the low back without surgery. I have been using the DRX9000 decompression system at my San Francisco Chiropractic Center for almost 3 years...with great success.
So...if you have sciatic leg pain that is not responding to conservative care...and you don't want surgery...the DRX9000 may be a good, logical, next step for you.
If you live in the SF Bay Area and would like to find out if you are a candidate for nonsurgical decompression with the DRX9000...simply call 415-392-2225 and ask for a complimentary phone consultation. Chances are...you will be glad you did.
