Is it possible to fix to fix/repair a disc herniation in the neck or low back ? Many San Francisco residents with chronic pain from disc bulges, disc herniations, spinal stenosis, disc degeneration, and facet syndrome, are finding out that the answer to this question is: MAYBE. It just depends how far the spine degenerated, how many herniations there are, if there are complications such as scoliosis or spodylolithesis, and the age and overall health of the patient. I have recently successfully treated a male who was about 20 lbs. overweight and has multiple level disc herniations and moderate spinal degeneration. He could not play golf which he loves to do, or workout in the gym. He is not 100% better, but he is about 80% after only 6 weeks of treatment. The thing is, he kept all his apts, did not over-do it during the treatment process, did his exercises, and actually dropped 10 lbs. adhering to the plant based diet we recommend during treatment.Just like anything in life, the more you put into something, the more you get back out. It is a given that the DRX 9000 will create a negative pressure allowing the disc to rehydrate and reposition, which will help to re-establish fluid and nutrient exchange with the blood stream. The part that is not a given is the role that the patient will play in the recovery process. For the most part these conditions were brought on by poor habits such as lack of exercise, poor posture, bad diet, stress, and chemicals, a.k.a. lifestyle. So, to get the most out of the treatment, our patients need to put the most into it that they can (as far as lifestyle modifications that are part of our initial treatment recommendations). A healthy internal environment can actually increase the odds of a favorable outcome with spinal decompression therapy by creating fertile soil for healing to take place. The bottom line is that each of us have knobs that are adjustable by US. We can either adjust them in the direction of illness or health. The choice is ours.
