Osteoporosis. Who is at risk ?

Posted Jun 02 2009 4:34pm

San Francisco Chiropractor -I made a comment today on a blog posting I read on Osteoporosis. The article is basically a summation of the existing mainstream medical point of view. The article is well written but leaves out what some consider to be the primary cause of osteoporosis, animal protein. Animal protein (meat, chicken, cheese, milk, etc) is very acidic. The body is always working to maintain the proper acid/alkaline balance, or blood pH (7.4).

The typical American diet is very rich in Animal protein. So, when we consume too much, as the typical person does every day, the body becomes acidic. The body then leeches calcium from it's own bones in order to maintain proper blood pH. Over time this can lead to Osteoporosis.

This is not new information. Please visit: Dr. John McDougall, MD's Osteoporosis page. This is a very good place to become educated on the relationship between what you eat and the health of your bones.

Please comment. I would love to hear what you have to say.
