Obese Patients a Pain in The Back for Nurses caring for them

Posted Jun 02 2009 4:34pm

San Francisco back pain doctor comments:

Nursing is hard work. I have had many nurses as patients at my San Francisco chronic back pain center. Nurses do a lot of lifting, pushing, and bending, often times in awkward positions. This in conjunction with walking many miles on hard floors can be very hard on their backs. According to a recent article I read, the British Chiropractic Association (BCA) says that over 5000 nurses are currently being treated for low back pain.  The article talks about the increase in obese patients of late and how much more work it is for the nurses to handle them. With obesity on the rise, the problem only looks to get worse, according to the BCA.

Anyway, the effects of obesity, just like many other chronic illnesses are far reaching, and do not always involve just the patient.

We incorporate " plant based nutrition" into our back pain programs at our San Francisco chronic back pain center. If you or anyone you know would like information on how to lose weight naturally, without starving yourself , please call 415-392-2225 and ask for a complimentary consultation with Dr. Davis.
