Hi Beth,
Has anyone looked at your thoracic spine?? It can lead to trapezius, scapula, and shoulder pains. Get checked out by a physiotherapist who is a manual therapist, they should be able to identify your issues. But chronic pain needs to be assessed in person.
General lower trapezius exercise include Ts, Is, and Ys or face pulls with a light resistance band. Type those into google and you'll be able to pull up some pics and videos. They are great exercises for office workers looking to improve their posture.
best of luck

Hi,
For the last 18 months i have been in terrible pain, the pain is at worst when i am seated, which has almost made me have to quit my job as an account manager.
After many a sourcing the 'specialists' help i have come no closer to being pain free.
I think i have a lower trapezius strain as this is where the pain originates and then moves into the upper trapezius and i now have muscle knots, up to a ping pong ball up in the back of my neck where my muscles join into my skull. This all started one day i bent down to pick up a dog bowl and something in my lower shoulder went 'ping'. Specialists wont look past my cervical area being the issue.
I cant find any exercises/recomm for the lower trapezius, please help, or if you think you may have heard of something similar.
I have looked over and over at my office ergonomics and everything is fine, except for having to hold my shoulder at a position where you type/use the mouse for a long period of the day.
