'LAVENDER' FOR JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING HEALTH RELATED...

Posted Nov 19 2010 5:50am

The list for what lavender is good for is endless, it's antimicrobial, anti-infectious and antiseptic, making it effective on wounds and as a front line defence against respiratory infections.

It is a tonic to the cardiovascular and digestive systems, it can lower blood pressure and can help to thin the blood.

It is good for muscle spasm, sprains, stains, cramps, and rheumatic pains. It can work as a sedative to the central nervous system and can relieve headaches, nervous tension and insomnia. It can even help mood swings and premenstrual tension. Its also good for urinary infections as it stimulates urine production.

It can help with pain, sleep, relaxation and even keep the moths away. You can use it for acne, burns and is useful for digestion.

It has been used as a culinary herb since Roman and Greek times. It lends a delicate flavour to casseroles, or scones or ice-cream and roast lamb. You can also drink it as a tea. It's no wonder that back in the 50's the perfume that most 'older ladies' wore was Lavender.

You can buy it in oils, gels, loose in bags, sprays for linen, room fresheners, perfume, candles, the list in endless.

Some of the nicest sites I came across that had some lovely Lavender products were www.snowshill-lavender.co.uk – lots for the bath and soaps under £5 with gels, oils and sprays. Another one was www.mayfieldlavender.com which has some unusual teapot oil burners and soap etc and finally www.thelavenderfields.co.uk which had some really nice ideas for gifts for Christmas.
