Scientists have now proved that acupuncture calms brain cells used to process and relieve pain.
This has to be good new for many regular uses of this treatment and will provide food for thought to many people who said its benefit was simply a 'placebo effect'.
Other research released earlier this year revealed that the physical act of sticking in acupuncture needles and twisting them releases a flood of natural painkillers.
There are still however some sceptics out there who say that anything that doesn't measure actual pain in patients is utterly irrelevant.
I guess the jury is still out on the final findings for acupuncture but to me, placebo effect or note, if it helps with pain signals then whose going to argue that it doesn't work, certainly not the ones who it works for.
