I have a lump on the right side of the back of my neck about an inch below the hairline. It is about an inch in diameter (very slow growing for months), hard and fixed. You can't see it on the surface. It is deeper in the neck. I've been to three doctors, all of whom can feel the lump, but do not know what it is. I had a cat scan but the lump did not show up on it. How can that be? I just had an ultrasound done. I am awaiting the results. The tech that did the ultrasound said that she could feel the lump but that she didn't see it on the ultrasound. Does this mean that the lump is normal tissue? The lump aches almost all of the time and seems to hurt more with activity. Any ideas of what this could be and what I should do next? I was in a rollover car accident 17 years ago...could this be arthritis? Thank you.
