I have a 20 degree curvature in my upper back with a hump over the base of my neck what causes that.

Basically, I call that hunch back posture.  The continuous looking down creates loss of the adequate neck curve over time and forward head carriage.  This then forces the upper back spine (thoracic spine) to hump up.  Make sure you look up periodically and maybe do head retraction exercises often as well.
