I am 25 and have been experiencing neck and shoulder pain since I was 21. I was diagnosed last year with reversal of the normal lordosis in my cervical spine and recent mri and xrays have shown 'loss of disc height' and 'minimal disc space narrowing at c5-c6. I have recently completed physical therapy which has relieved me of all pain in my shoulders and some neck pain however I am still experiencing slight stiffness and sharp pains in my lower neck which i'm guessing is due to the narrowing of the disc space. Any help would be appreciated!
I would recommend that you do neck traction and use a special contoured pillow at night. Doing neck traction will not only open up the disc spaces, but it will also help you get the proper C Curve in your cervical spine. A traction unit such at the posture pump can help with that. Also, in conjuction with that, I would suggest using the arc4life traction pillow, which will gently stretch your neck while you sleep.
check out the various traction units at www.neckpainreliefkit.com ; the posture pump is the most comfortable and I recommend this one to my patients.
Neck traction is a good idea along with the contoured pillow you should be able to feel better, but i feel that u should also visit a chiropractor, who just might be able to help you. They are able cure neuropathic pain, neck and back pain using laser therapy which improves tissue repair and reduces pain and inflammation.
