How much and what kind of exercise is most effective for health?

Posted Feb 19 2010 4:03am

In my chiropractic office, I frequently encourage people to exercise increase their health and build on the treatmet that I am providing. But I always hear: “I don’t have time to exercise”. But a study done in 2001 may make that excuse go away.

Public health efforts to encourage exercise have included the recommendation to devote 30 minutes of continuous aerobic exercise per day. But recently they have changed the guideline to 30 minutes of total exercise.  Continuous or intermittent exercise will give the same benefit.

So 2 session of 15 minutes or 3 sessions of 10 minutes of exercise have shown to give the same benefit as 30 minutes of continuous effort.

Unfortunately, people will come up with other excuses but at least the time one is gone. http://www.southingtonchiropractor.com/custom_content/44486_services_and_products_offered.html is a link to give you some ideas on exercises we recommend in our office.
