I just read a really good overview on the relationship between dairy products, strong bones, and good health. It is entitled " What About Dairy?" Most people are of the belief that they need to consume dairy products to get the calcium they need to maintain healthy bone mass, and also for protein.
This belief is instilled in us when we are very young, and is the result of billions of dollars of mass marketing that is done each year by the meat and dairy industries. And, it perpetuates from generation to generation. In fact, just about every cart at the grocery store has a jug of milk, some cheese, or yogurt.
And, for the most part...the consumer thinks this is a healthy food choice.
