Does Nonsurgical Spinal Decompression Really Work?

Posted Jan 10 2010 12:00am

San Francisco Spinal Decompression Doctor Comments:

DRX9000 San Francisco
We have been helping patients with cervical and lumbar herniated discs in downtown San Francisco for about 18 years now at Executive Express Chiropractic (formerly Front Street Chiropractic-across the street).

About 4 years ago we decided to add nonsurgical spinal decompression into the mix. I did this after spending almost a year researching spinal decompression systems, visiting the manufacturers of decompression machines, talking to doctors that had already implemented spinal decompression into their practices, and talking to herniated disc patients that had successfully completed spinal decompression programs (Take the Spinal Decompression Guided Tour).

Why? Because I did not want to mess with the great results we were already achieving. And...I did not want to add additional overhead to the clinic for some kind of magic bullet machine that was all hype. Plus, there really wasn't any research to support the claims that spinal decompression manufacturers, doctors, and patients were making...it was suspicious...and I am somebody that likes to see hard facts.

So I waited. In the meantime several close friends became spinal decompression doctors around the country...and these are doctors I trust. When they told me they were amazed with the treatment outcomes and were now able to treat a sub-set of cervical and lumbar herniated disc patients that they would have previously referred out it got my attention...and I decided to give it a shot. I think this was around April of 2005.

Well...we have now helped hundreds of herniated disc patients with nonsurgical spinal decompression and I can honestly say...spinal decompression really does work. Does it help every patient that does it? NO

Does it help most of them? YES

And...decompression therapy is very safe and gentle. In fact my mother in law is on the machine now. She is doing both cervical decompression therapy and lumbar decompression therapy. She does the sessions back to back. She got sore in the beginning but that's about it. She is looking to avoid back and neck surgery. Will it work?...don't know yet...but so far so good...she's feeling better.

Here's the deal...If she would have done the lumbar fusion surgery the surgeon recommended she would have never been able to try nonsurgical spinal decompression...she would have been disqualified from treatment. She knows she can always have back surgery if decompression does not work.

So...while nonsurgical spinal decompression IS NOT a Magic Bullet...It is (in my opinion)the most advanced and effective (and safest) form of nonsurgical treatment for lumbar and cervical disc herniations that exists in the marketplace today.

Will it help you? Don't know...we need to check you out and make sure you qualify medically first...not everyone does. And if we accept your case it's because we feel there is a fairly good chance it will help you.

So why not give it a shot? If you have cervical or lumbar disc herniations, disc bulges, spinal stenosis, disc degeneration, or a facet syndrome that is not responding to other forms of neck pain or back pain treatments you should consider nonsurgical spinal decompression. Why? Because it works...most of the time.
