Diagnostics used to reveal the size, location and nature of a brain tumor

Posted Apr 28 2009 1:41pm

Dr. Len Cerullo, neurosurgeon, discusses the diagnostic tools used by neurosurgeons to reveal the size, location and nature of a brain tumor.  The various types of imaging studies are discussed in detail, including MRI, CT scan, MR spectroscopy, functional MR.  Dr. Cerullo also discusses the use of physiological testing, including visual field testing, brainstem evoked potential testing and somatosensory evoked potential testing.   Dr. Cerullo also discusses the use of biopsy which provides the neurosurgeon with the DNA make-up of the tumor.  This information provides a foundation for planning of the treatment protocol.  Please post your questions here or email Dr. Cerullo at info@neuro-ortho.org.
