Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD) ? Who is at Risk ?

Disc Degeneration is one of the most common causes of Low Back Pain. And get this...it is considered a normal part of aging, which I don't buy. I mean, do you think our maker would design our spinal discs to degenerate prematurely ? I don't think so. Spinal degeneration or abnormal wear and tear of the discs, joints, and ligaments, has more to do with lifestyle than anything else. Just like all other forms of degeneration.
The healthier we are, the better we are able to resist any kind of degenerative disease process. It's all about eating right (a plant based diet is my personal choice). Getting plenty of exercise. Making sure you get lots of sleep. And making an effort to minimize mental stress. In addition, things like maintaining proper posture with regular chiropractic adjustments or Yoga can add longevity to the spine.
One thing for sure. You can't just eat whatever you want. Drink alcohol. Work 60-80 hours per week. And not exercise. Then, be surprised when you are diagnosed with health problems. Its all about balance. You can tell just by looking at someone if they are out of balance. Something like 75% of our population is obese. And a very high percentage are stressed to the tipping point. The choice is yours. Life is like a cafeteria. You can take whatever you want, but at the end of the line you have to pay the price. And, they always put the deserts first. :)
