I decided to become a chiropractor because of my positive experience as a chiropractic patient suffering with migraine headaches. My headaches became so bad that I had to go on disability, and I was only 23 years old. The medical team at the headache clinic I was seeing was baffled by these crippling headaches I was having that kept me in bed most of the day because sunlight and sound were almost unbearable.
I had brain scans, MRI, blood tests...you name it...every test under the sun. I developed an allergic reaction to the Percodan that was prescribed for the pain and almost died...it was not much fun.
I was a stock broker at the time and one of my clients who was a chiropractor found out I was out sick with terrible migraines and contacted me at home. He told me chiropractic had great success with migraines and convinced me to come down for a chiropractic exam to see if he could help.
By this time I would have tried anything...so I gave it a shot. Well...it did not take long before my headaches started to diminish...maybe a few days. Then...after about a month or so they were completely gone. I became very interested in how this happened. How was it that the best headache doctors in the country could not cure my headaches after all the tests, lab work, medical diagnostics, and expert opinions?
Anyway...I began to study chiropractic history and philosophy and decided that I wanted to become a chiropractor myself...so I packed my bags and moved to San Francisco...the rest is history.
So...when I was doing my Sunday reading on the great www.RevolutionHealth.com website this morning...and I saw the article Tackling Migraine Headaches...I figured it would just be some typical mumbo-jumbo about a new medical breakthrough pill...or diagnostic test...I was pleasantly surprised when chiropractic care was included...as well as massage therapy. These guys get it...and that' s nice to see.
I have since helped hundreds of patients with chronic, severe, migraine headaches at my San Francisco chiropractic centers over the years. There' s nothing like first hand experience when it comes to understanding migraine pain syndromes. If you have never experienced a full blown migraine headache, just be thankful. And if you suffer with migraines visit a chiropractor...it' s just the right thing to do.
