Can low back pain be caused by sitting?

We are a nation of sitters and it is causing low back pain. Whether it is in front of our computers, televisions, desks, cars or planes, our society is sitting longer and longer. And this affects your spine.

Since sitting increases the pressure in your low back 5 times more than standing does, it is important to do what is possible to avoid some of the health issure linked with sitting.

To avoid lowback pain from sitting, adjust your chair and computer monitor so you are looking slightly down at your screen. And don’t forget to get an ergonomically designed chair. One without arm rests is best.

Watch your posture and the position of your back, neck and head. The more you lean forward the more back pain you will experience. And of course change your position often. This will give you a new perspective on your project ans well as stretching your legs.
