Back Pain Relief … and habits

Posted Oct 25 2008 9:34pm 1 Comment
Back pain relief ... you may be askingwhat back pain has got to do with habits.

The answer actually comes in two parts –chronic back pain especially is habitual, so you need to change the habits of your joints and muscles if you want permanent back pain relief. Secondly, ifyou don’t use techniques habitually, do not expect to have permanent change.

The first answer can be explained as such…

Anything you do consistently over time is assumed to be "normal". For example, the side of the bed you get out of in the morning. If you get out on the left, try getting out on the right tomorrow. It is almost impossible. Why?

Habit has made youautomaticallyget out on the left side. To change to the right side you need to change the habits buy working on this aspect each day, until it becomes automatic to get out on the right side.

How long does it take?

It takes31 daysto form a habit… it also takes 31 days to break one!

This leads you into the second answer.

Themost common mistakepeople make when dealing with back pain relief, whether it is you doing techniques at home or seeing a practitioner. You need habitual change to make permanent change.

Seeing a practitioner will not change your habitual back pain. Sure seeing a practitioner is advisable at times, but all they can do is implant a new way of working. You need to make it a habit.

You therefore need to do techniques at home to reinforce their procedures. Otherwise the habits remain, you will get back pain relief, but your back pain will return. Why?

Because the habits remain.

This is why there is so much negativity about practitioners. There are those saying "don’t go to see your Chiropractor – you will see them for the rest of your life" … or "don’t see a Physio – as they never seem to get you better" … and even medicine "drugs are good to ease pain – but stop them and pain comes back".

The practitioners are not at fault (some may be though...), butthe fault lies in not being taught techniquesto reinforce their methods so that your habits break and better ways develop.

Then there is also the problem where even if you know what to do … you feel your back pain has gone… so you stop using the techniques.

What should you do?

Simple, use techniques daily for at least a month (31 days). Use techniques that you can see working and you can assess to make sure the habits are forming. You need to be able to pre-test and post-test, to make sure you are improving and that habits are forming.

Then you will know that…

  1. Your back pain has gone

  2. Habits are broken and new ones formed.

Then and only then should you continue on with the techniques on amaintenancebasis.

So many questions and so few answers you may be saying. How do you learnsimple and effective ways to remove your back pain, break the habits and be able to monitor your progress?

Back Pain Reliefneeds techniques you can use at home to remove your back pain. Ways to assess your spine to make sure it is balanced. Techniques to makes sure the habits have formed and are maintained. Back pain will disappeartotallypermanently… only if you change the habits that allowed it in the first place…the answer isUltimate Back Pain Relief

I was always told that it takes 2 weeks to break a habit. Sad to know it actually takes longer, but good to know that I now have an acurate goal to reach for. And I really wish more doctors would study up on to provide more natural solutions to back issues. I would rather not go to the extreme, especially if I have yet to try everything else. Right now, I am completely loving the non-surgical remedies from a book titled, Surgery not Included, by Dr. Richard E. Busch III. So far, my conlclusion is that all Mediacl doctors, pain management doctors and chiropractors should have this book on their shelf.
