Not to many people think...Oh, I should go see a chiropractor for my foot or ankle pain. But the thing is...they probably should. The foot is very intricate. There are 28 bones in the foot...including the 2 sesamoid bones at the base of the big toe, and 32 muscles and tendons. When you injure the foot it can often times be devastating.
I know this from first hand experience. I injured my big toe playing soccer when I was in chiropractic school. Every 3-4 years when I do something extreme it flairs up and I cant walk...sometimes for weeks. The pain is a 10 on a 1-10 pain scale. Regular chiropractic usually keeps it in check.
First of all you push off of the big toe with every step that you take. So, all of the body weight and some is put on the big toe all day long.
The ankle can also become a problem if it is injured and does not heal right...same with the other bones in the foot. But did you know...some chiropractors can adjust your feet, your toes, and your ankles. Usually these will be sports oriented chiropractors...or doctors that work on a lot of extremities like I do. It is a specialty.
So, if you have a bum foot, ankle, or toe...consider chiropractic...you will probably be pleasantly surprised.
If you would like to find out if you are a candidate for care at our San Francisco Chiropractic Center...simply call 415-392-2225 and ask for a complimentary consultation.
