after i had lung surgery i came to and thay told me that my c5 and c6 spineal cord was messed up. what can i do now.

I had lung surgery 6/23/10 when i came out  my hand hurt very bad i told the doctor and he said some times this happens to people .Now what can i do about this or who can i talk to about this. Can someone help me with this who knows about the spineal cord
