Use the thumb and index finger of one hand or the index and middle fingers of both hands and apply pressure to both sides of the back of the neck, near the spine, about two finger widths down from the base of the skull. Apply pressure for about a minute, release then press again for a minute. Repeat if necessary. This can also help to soothe tension.
