Health knowledge made personal
Hi! My name is Missy and I've had fibromyalgia for going on 14 years now. I've had my share of ups and downs, but I think I've weathered every storm that has come my way. When I was first diagnosed, I didn't even know what fibromyalgia WAS, much less how to treat it. It sounded like a fatal disease to me!! I'm a registered nurse, but I can no longer work due to severe back pain (from 3 lumbar disc compressions), severe neuropathy and ridiculopathy. I can't stand for longer than 5 minutes without having to sit down to relieve pressure off my back.
I'm happily married to a wonderfully supportive husband, who is going through his own set of medical crisis. He has a rare cancer called gastrointestinal stromal tumor and recently has had surgery for what we though was a recurrence, but luckily it was benign. He's had his ups and downs and we help each other out. We have no children, but we do have a terribly spoiled cat named "Jack" and he rules the roost!! Or so he thinks!
