This is my beautiful niece Sophie Jean. She walked with us at the Green Our Vaccines Rally last summer in Washington D.C. Okay, she didn’t so much walk as was pushed in her stroller; but she, and my sister, were both with us on that memorable day.
I’ll never forget walking down Independence with all of the other parents, children, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. It was very overwhelming to see the sea of green shirts in front of us, and behind us. So many families affected and devastated by vaccine damage. At one point I was just silently crying when I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was my sister. She walked beside me and just kept her hand there until I pulled myself together.
In our autism advocacy, we are helping others to NOT walk the path we’ve been forced upon. My sister and her little girl are an example of the result of our advocacy for following a safer vaccine schedule. No vaccine damage here. Sophie is a happy, healthy child, who is developing on or above the guidelines for her age.
Hey Soph, your Aunt Jean-Jean loves you very much!
