Thanks to Norwood, Manor House School and Veda and Vespa ....

Posted May 29 2010 11:00am
The last few days have been very busy and today we're doing a little bit of a catch-up - along with all the excitment of Murray's prize in the Texaco Art Competition this week (and thank you so such for all the wonderful comments) - there was also lots of other lovely things happening as well ...

Yesterday, an excited little man got a half day from school (parent-teacher meetings) and a surprise present from Norwood ....
Huge excitment, because Norwood always reminds Murray of frogs!
What did Norwood send him - a wonderful Beanie toy of Bo - the White House canine! A trip to Washington might be on the cards to visit the real Bo one day! Murray wants to meet him and his family! We think Hilton Head and New York is more than enough for this summer!
Murray loved Bo and the Spongebob Squarepants tattoos! Norwood obviously pays really good attention to our blog and just knew how much anything to do with Spongebob would make Murray really happy!
Norwood, that was a lovely surprise and the frog card was great! We gave it back a 'high five'! Thank you so much Norwood.

Last Thursday, we went to Manor House School in Raheny to collect a cheque for €458.94! Six of the students had participated in a sponsored silence a few days after we had given a talk in the school two weeks ago. Huge thanks to Miss O'Neill, School Principal, Mrs Fullham, Year Head - 2nd Years and the girls who stayed silent for a day - Christine Feeney, Karolina Pawlak, Lauren Burdis, Emily-Kate Norris, Ylenia Colamatteo and Shauna O'Connell!
24 years ago, Murray's Mom left Manor House and she was delighted to be able to go back again and meet some of her old teachers! Mrs Fullam taught Murray's Mom biology and here's a photo of Fiona from 1984 with a biology project .... It was at the Aer Lingus Young Scientist Exhibition with a project she submitted on Earthworms! Some things - like school uniforms - never change!

Last Tuesday, we had a visit from Clive's Assistance Dog pals - Veda and Vespa. All the dogs trained together in Cork four years ago and we love to meet up with the dogs (and Moms) every few months. Veda and Vespa are sisters and really love the chance to get together again!
Veda and Vespa play with Clive's toys! He just lets the 'girls' get on with playing together - getting into the pond (which doesn't make Murray's Mom very happy - she worries for the goldfish and frogs!) and enjoying catching up. He does however lead the way when it comes to sitting down and posing for a photo!

So a busy week .... several things this week made us very appreciative, happy and grateful ...

- Murray's success in the Texaco Art Competition and the fact that he was following in the footsteps of his Dad ...

- Murray's Mom back in her old school to acknowledge their support of Irish Guide Dogs ...

- Meeting up with Veda and Vespa - it's very important for us to maintain links with the families and dogs we trained with ....

- Norwood surprising Murray and putting a 'big smile' on his face ....

But this week has also seen Murray's great friend Max leave us ...

- Max has left a very special 'pawprint' on Murray's young life and yesterday at his Parent-Teacher meeting, it was lovely to meet the School Chaplain and have her tell us how Murray has talked about and coped with Max leaving this week ...

The support of community and friends is so important and this week has really shown us that we have lots of that ...

Have a good weekend

- Clive
