We recently received test results back for Timothy. This was a Organic Acids Test(OAT) and it said, go figure, he has yeast and clostridia issues just like Nathan. He was also low in vitamin C which I thought was kinda funny. They add vitamin C into almost anything these days, but we don't eat a lot of packaged type food. At least not normal packaged type foods.
I ordered and reordered a bunch of supplements today and thought it might be interesting to list them here. It's always a chore to figure out where to buy what and which will be cheaper and getting things that need to be shipped 2-day all at one company so that it costs less in shipping.
Here's what I ordered today:
New Beginnings Nutritionals
O live Leaf Extract - Great stuff. Helps Timothy with OCD issues, kept strep away from the rest of the family.
M.C.T. Liquid - This is caprilic acid which is an anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. This is for Nathan to help with yeast issues.
Oreganol - This is oil of oregano which is also an anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. This one is for Timothy.
Houston's No- Fenol - This is an enzyme to help digest foods with phenol. Katie Ann deals with this the most. If she has an apple or other high phenol food her mouth turns bright red like a clown. If she takes No- Fenol or Phenol Assist which is Kirkman's enzyme then she looks and feels better. Phenol intolerance is common and can cause stomach aches, rashes, irritability and even speech difficulties.
Chelate -Mate - This is a mineral supplement to help replace essential minerals during detox. Nathan takes this.
UV natural - SP30+ Sunscreen - This is mostly for Nathan, a sunscreen without Vitamin E which is often soy based.
Basic Nutrients Plus - A basic multivitamin designed by a mom who has a child on the spectrum. Everyone takes this.
Biotin - We use this to help fight yeast in the gut. All of the kids have taken this at various times. Timothy is the one taking it regularly right now.
Kirkman Labs
B-6 with Magnesium Chewable Wafers - The kids usually prefer a capsule, but I bought a sample of these and Timothy wanted this instead. These are to be taken with the Biotin and with any calcium that doesn't contain magnesium too.
Alpha- Ketoglutaric Acid Hypoallergenic - This is something that Timothy's labs came up low in and Dr. Shaw suggested supplementing.
Buffered Magnesium Oxide Hypoallergenic - These are magnesium capsules because I'm pretty sure Timothy is going to get sick of chewables!
Klair Labs
Ther -Biotic Detoxification Support - This is a probiotic with I think 3 different strains in it. What was important to me was that it did not have the strep strain in it, as that would flare OCD for Timothy.
And that is what I spent my money on today! I'm pretty sure that was somewhere in the range of $400.00 and I didn't even order everything, somethings we have enough of already. Yikes!
