a friend said to me..." it is amazing the things you do for your son" but really, why is it amazing? Isn't that my job as a mom? I really appreciate the comment though, because somebody recognized that it is hard work being a parent, and pretty much a single parent.
strangers spent more time with Evan this week than certain people that live in my house have spent with him in months. Actual time listening to what he has to say, finding him clever, intelligent, witty, personable and great to be around. Nobody told me he was a bother, a rotten kid, never does anything right, or anything negative about him at all. People have left messages on message boards, emails and comments on my blog telling me how awesome they think Evan is. This has sustained me. Thank you.
at almost 40 I am still in shock that people like me and want to know me better.
My mom told me she was proud of me. She said this during daylight hours. It meant a lot. Even at almost 40.
I am so proud of my son. I admit to being a little apprehensive of the entire week, but I put my faith in God, and in Evan and just let it roll. There were times I got a little crabby, times when Evan's meds weren't on time, but bottom line, I wouldn't take this week back for anything else in the world. Well maybe if my step father was still alive, that would be about it.
Monday will be a busy day, back to the reality of signing release forms to try to find funding for the in home therapies, contacting the Public Defender's office before court next week's hearing. I feel good and I feel alive.
