Phenol Free Girl

Posted Jun 13 2009 12:18am
I have to tell you about my amazing daughter! She figured out that she cannot tolerate foods with phenol in them and has put herself on a phenol free diet. This diet has cleared up the red rash around her mouth that made her look like she had clown makeup on all the time and cleared up her fingers too. She has had dry, red, cracked fingers since she was at least 1 years old and has been struggling with it for the last 6 years. We've tried creams, lotions, etc and nothing helped. She had some relief when we went GFCF, but it didn't clear it up all the way.

Her fingers look great today and only get red and itchy when she eats something with phenol, usually because I told her to! There are enzymes she can take to help her body break down these foods, but elimination is best while her phenol load is high.

She decided and has been begging me to help her set up a blog for her phenol stuff, so I finally did last night. She calls herself Phenol Free Girl and she will be tracking her phenol free journey on her blog. Check it out:
