I’m starting another blog (because I don’t have enough to do). This blog is for finding peace and respite in your life—especially if you spend a great deal of time caring for others.
My opinion has always been to secure your oxygen mask first and then assist others. There’s a reason for that. I pulled this from the home page of www.compassionfatigue.org
Caring too much can hurt. When caregivers focus on others without practicing self-care, destructive behaviors can surface. Apathy, isolation, bottled up emotions and substance abuse head a long list of symptoms associated with the secondary traumatic stress disorder now labeled: Compassion Fatigue . . .
I would love to hear your ideas for basically making sure you don’t fall off of the deep end. I’d also LOVE guest bloggers. Please let me know if you’re interested!
Loves (I seem to be full of love today)
