Park Day Accomplishments while working on transferring responsibility

On the first Friday of the month, we have Park Day with our homeschool co op. We go this year more than we did last year since Logan's best friend, Thomas, comes too. It makes the day easier to navigate for Logan since he has someone to play with that he is familiar and comfortable with. Unfortunately, yesterday's Park Day was not attended by Thomas because his mom was sick.
That left Logan alone. After saying a quick prayer in the parking lot, we went to play. Times like these alway make me nervous. It really could go either way. He could have a good day or need major scaffolding. I really felt like this would be a great opportunity to work on letting Logan take responsibility for the interactions. Really , I was going to be busy with the cookie exchange so I kinda had to let him go alone.
Here's what happened. Madison was sitting on the swing and needed a push. Guess who pushed her with no prompting? Yup, Logan. Several minutes later as Logan was running by the swings again, a little boy (about 3 years old) couldn't get on the swing by himself. Guess who noticed, stopped, and picked him up to put him on the swing? Yup, Logan (again no prompting). Then he felt a little under the weather from running around so he sat at the picnic table by the lake. Apparently, there was an alligator sunning himself on the shoreline (Remember this is Florida. If there is water then there is usually an alligator somewhere). Guess who noticed it then came to get me to show me. Yup, Logan. This one gets better. He showed Leslie too then ran to find Madison on the playground to show her. Amazing!
