I was on a roll last week. Implemented new tv and computer usage rules. Implemented new chore and lesson rules. You've heard all about them last week. One more thing that I implemented was new bedtimes and routine.
Both children are in bed at 10 PM. As in teeth brushed, showers taken , and lights out. Don't come out and ask a gazillion questions. Good night. If either child is late then they go to bed 15 minutes earlier the next night. Bwaaaaaa ( evil mom laugh).
I was met with some resistance at first. Really, I needed to clarify a few things like I did above. Once they got the jist of it, all was well. No more resistance. Both kids did well with it.
I did this for two reasons.
I need the time alone to get the house in tip top shape before Michael comes home. Plus, what a great feeling to get up in the morning to a clean house. The day seems to run smoother. I can read a book when I finish or blog (how about that?) When Michael is home, then it gives us the opportunity to have some time together.
The children need their sleep. Their bodies are growing and changing. It is healthier for them to get a full night's sleep. Why would we not want them to be healthy?
So, I 'm done with new routines for now. I still have some work to do to get the new chore/lesson routine to be habit. It will take time but it will come as well. In a few months, we will have it all down pat. A lot of work now will pay big dividends later. Sounds like I'm talking about autism, right?
