Listening Therapy and Sensory Play

Posted May 18 2010 12:00am
I have been bouncing around between two occupational therapists and they are using listening therapy. I thought that Isaac needed it NOW, but it seems like he is not ready for it. For one thing, the listening therapy is conducted through a high tech set of headphones. He doesn't want anything on his head at the moment. I asked the therapist if we could just play the music for him while he plays, but she said that it wouldn't be very effective.

The listening therapy is provided through a company called Vital Sounds . The headphones happen to be quite expensive, but I know that they are needed. It's not something that we can do right this minute. Fortunately for us, the unmodified CD that Isaac would here with the listening therapy is available for download at . The only difference is that he frequencies are n't tweaked with this CD Album, and it's heard over the stereo.
He likes the music, so we are playing it for him, in hopes that he will get used to the music, and it wil not be so hard for him to put on the headphones.

In the meantime, I have asked around, and hope to borrow some headphones or find them on ebay. The therapist at Creative Health Solutions gave me a printout for The Sensory University, with all kinds of things that I could get for Isaac. There are some neat things in ther, but for now we are just going to use what we have at home.

Here are some things that we are using for sensory Intergration, and sensory play
The Sit and Spin

A Rusig Rocker

There are some items that I would like to get him for future use, but we have to wait a while for them.
They are a ball pit (we have the balls) and an Indoor swing.

For now we are working with what we have.
