A lot has happened in our lives since the last blog post. The girls and I started homeschooling once again, and this year, I can actually sit down with them and teach them. Last year was a whirlwind of catching Isaac, house proofing and chasing him. Needless to say I am so glad that we have someone to help us now with Isaac.
Isaac is going to be aided by a friend from church who just happens to need some work, and God's timing is in all of this. She is working with Isaac and helping him with all of his therapies that he gets everyday. She is learning the basics of ABA, Occupational therapy, and Speech. She is learning as fast as I can throw things at her, and she does really well with Isaac. She is also helping him by guiding him thru his Astronaut Therapy, and his Listening Therapy. One thing I can't do with Isaac is throw him up in the air like mike does, and since he is going to be going away in three days he wont be able to do it. She does a good job of copying what mike does, and so Isaac will be able to get the sensation of flying thru the air, and he loves it.
She started on Monday this week, and I have been able to CLEAN things that I haven't been able to clean. I have been able to get rid of a bunch of clutter. My spring cleaning came a little late this year. I was able to teach the girls some history, and we were able to do some things that we wouldn't normally get to do.
We also celebrated Hannah's and mine- our birthdays together...hers is on the 10th and mine is the 17th so - we all went out o Red Lobster and had a birthday meal. This will be the last time we go out for a while since I wont be doing it with 4 kids by myself anytime soon, and it will help with the budget that I am planning so that we can pay down bills, and save up.
So this year for handwriting, and grammar, and spelling for the girls we are going to do "Letters to Daddy".
It was an idea put forth by Daddy, so the girls are going to enjoy putting out some handwriting assignments for Dad, so they can mail them, and I am going to enjoy inspiring them to be creative.
This following Friday we are going to see a Homeopath in Alexandria. It was by accident ( there are no accidents - only Divine guidance) that I was able to obtain his name. He is a natural doctor and and he practices homeopathic medicine. I am hoping that we don't have to reschedule- hopefully our available funds will still be available by Friday. Something always comes up, and I find that we are short for something. There are never enough funds when it comes to treating Autism.
I had a friend- not real close at all- but someone who took a special interest in Isaac because she has a grandson of her own that has Autism. I got to telling her about how we were working on him overcoming Autism, and she was really inspirational. She passed away this week from Cancer. She had fought it so many times already. This time she just couldn't do it and now she is at peace, and at home with Jesus. I found out by looking at my facebook page, I was saddened, still am, but I know she isn't in any pain now.
Cancer has been all too familiar with my family. My dad, now my uncle has it, and so many people that I have called friends have succumbed to this horrible disease. The funeral is Sunday and Monday, Michael leaves on Tuesday, so this is going to be a week full of sorrows.
Just in time- God knows what we need, we are having an "Encouragement Conference" at church tomorrow thru Wednesday night. I will need it, as I will probably be weepy this week. This is Mike's first time gone for such a long business trip- since before we had kids. That was about 12 years ago.
I have been researching more natural food alternatives, and I have a couple of nice links for you to check out. This past week I ordered a
shampoo bar from
NaturOli . I also ordered some
soap nuts to try out before I buy a bunch. I like them, but I also lost them somewhere in the wash.
I tried the soap this morning on my hair, and I didn't like the way that it felt afterwards- I though it would be too hard to brush...but it wasn't after I let it dry a little under a towel. I like the way that it feels. I also ordered from
Rose of Sharon Acres -
some tooth spritz ...which I haven't been brave enough to try yet..but I will let you know in another post.
