Is this the suppressed viral infection we've been waiting for???

Posted Mar 20 2009 12:00am
Ok, the title of this post sounds strange but I'm crossing my fingers that this fever is a good sign. Drew still has a very high fever; so we reluctantly took him to see his pediatrician. She is not onboard with the whole DAN! doctor thing--she actually didn't even know what a DAN! doctor was until I mentioned them to her. Anyway, she checked his ears, throat, and urine and everything turned up normal. She took some blood and said that it looked like he had a viral infection.

We already know that Drew is a viral guy.
We know that he has an environmental infection (vaccine injury).
We know that he has heavy metals (toxic load).
We know that he has leaky gut syndrome.
We know that he has a weak/low functioning immune system.

But, I needed to make sure that this wasn't bacteria related because we also know that he has bad bacteria in his gut that is being addressed.

Ok...back to the subject. Apparently, due to the above issues, Drew is unable to fight off viruses and toxins. He absorbs them. This, unfortunately, is all too common in many autistic children; and all to often, missed by pediatricians who are uneducated on autism. So, when we get a cold or flu, we sneeze, cough, get a fever, etc which is actually our bodies immune system reacting and fighting off viruses and such. Well, not Drew. His little body just absorbs it all.

SO...MAYBE just MAYBE this high fever is actually his immune system trying to work appropriately and fight off one of the viruses that is embedded in his body. MAYBE, he is getting rid of something and will show signs of improvement on the other side of this. MAYBE, this is part of the 2-3 month regression on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet because his body is changing and healing and fighting finally. PLEASE let this be one of those MAYBE's!

Will keep you posted...
yesterdays menu and notes: pecan milk, cran/pineapple juice, meatballs, pecanbread, green beans, chicken nuggets w SCD mayo, lots of Digestive Wellness cookies (he wouldn't eat or really drink too much of anything else) Lethargic, moaning, blood drawn, urine sample, a few good sounds.
