Susan Stephens could have taken the easy way out. She is not the parent of a child with special needs, but the grandmother. Grandparents are supposed to enjoy the fun that their grandchildren have to offer and leave the day-to-day cares and concerns with the parents. But Susan has not taken a back seat to dealing with her grandson’s special needs. Ever since his diagnosis at age 2, Susan has been “working towards providing resources, encouragement and support to families around the world raising children with special needs.”
Susan has tried multiple methods to fulfill this quest and is excited to announce the birth of Family Network TV . Utilizing WebTV and online Radio, Family Network TV will reach a worldwide audience. Here are highlights from a couple of the planned shows:
The Imperfection Connection hosted by Patty Konjoian and Gina Gallagher, authors of “Shut Up About Your Perfect Kid: A Survival Guide for Ordinary Parents of Special Children.“ They will focus their season 1 on taking better care of yourself with a twist of humor, while discussing hard topics as well.
A Matter of LAW hosted by Sheryl Frishman and Jaill Faber, who are special needs attorneys from New York and also mothers of children with special needs. They will cover things that you should know, documents you should have in place, and how to set up a trust for your child.
Premiere week of the shows is planned for mid-January, 2011. Susan also has lots of other amazing things planned to bring exceptional families from around the world together.
Between the official website launch later this month and the premiere week, Family Network TV will be having weekly giveaways. Products will range from books, toys, gift certificates, and the S-O-S Rescue Series resource packets, building up to a Mexican Riviera Cruise for 2 to be given away during premiere week in mid-January, 2011.
