Clive's 2010 share tips!

Posted Jan 06 2010 3:02pm

Another one of our year end family traditions is getting me to come up with my share picks for the year ahead. I study CNBC and Bloomberg for days on end and then pick six shares - three from the American market and three from the Irish/UK market.

I do this by giving the appropriate 'bark' as the NSLM and his Dad read through the DOW and FTSE indices. This year, for the fun, we're going to share my 'picks' with you all and review their performances on a quarterly basis. Be warned, I'm an aggressive investor and my picks are not for 'widows and orphans' as they say in the business!

So here goes, my six shares with their January 1st share prices:

My American picks:
Ticker F - Ford - Share price - $10 - Sector - Motor
Ticker C - Citigroup - Share price - $3.30 - Sector - Banking
Ticker SNDK - Sandisk - Share price - $28.50 - Sector - Tech - chips Mnft

My Irish / UK picks:
Ticker IPM - Irish Life & Permanent - Share price - £3.10 - Sector - Fin Services
Ticker DGO - Dragon oil - Share price - £3.87 - Sector - Oil Exporation
Ticker JRVS - Jarvis - Share price - £0.133 - Sector - Services sector

Today is also Little Christmas - Nollaig Bheag in Irish and one of the traditional names in Ireland for January 6th, the Celebration of the Epiphany. It is the traditional end of the Christmas season and the last day of the Christmas holidays for schools in Ireland. But the snow is still falling and the schools have been closed until next Monday!

Today is also known as Women's Christmas here - Nollaig na mBan in Irish and the tradition is that Irish men take on all the household duties for the day!

Well, we don't quite know if that happened ..... but I'm looking forward to seeing if my share tips out perform the NSLM's Dad who thinks he should be working on Wall Street!

Please note as a 'dog' Clive is not regulated by any financial authority and you follow his guidance and advice at your own risk!
