Clive and Murray at the Christmas market in Dublin ....

At the Dublin docklands in the centre of the city at the moment is the 12 Days of Christmas Festival Market .....
Walking over the Sean O'Casey bridge to the market the Christmas lights along the river Liffey looked amazing .... The new National Conference Centre on the left hand side of the photo has bands of coloured lights that change colour - Murray loves watching the colours change and also watching the Wheel at the O2 revolving around.
The market was really atmospheric - it helped that there was some snowflakes falling but it was freezing cold, we've another really cold snap here at the moment. It was -2 this afternoon when we arrived at the market! The Christmas tree in the market was huge and Murray loved looking at all the stalls .... The girl selling the bog oak candle holders was really lovely and the bog oak pieces she was selling were fabulous. But Murray and Sorcha kept needing to eat .... because they were so cold (they said!). The Danish stall selling 'frites' with ketchup and mayonnaise was really busy and the 'frites' were just like Murray's all-time favourite Belgian frites! He was a very happy boy but did he share!!
Then we had to stand around waiting to get some hot-dogs! Only these were not any ordinary normal sized hot-dogs - they were absolutely huge German bratwurst sausages with lots of pickles and onions and lashings of mustard and more ketchup! The smell was so delicious and I had to stand there for 10 minutes patiently waiting for Murray to get his bratwurst! But did I get any .... no, I was working and not allowed even a little taste! We than came upon a Father Christmas who looked a little bit under the weather! Murray was very funny about him .... and we kept moving ..... I kept looking for just a little taste of some of the yummy market food .... After frites and bratwurst, they helped themselves to chicken and noodles and then crepes with hot chocolate sauce! and then they found the Halibo sweet stall ..... So I decided to concentrate on some on the market entertainment - this guy on a unicycle juggling with knives and fire was pretty impressive .... Finally, after visiting every stall in the market and eating lots of food Murray decided we could go home. We had all actually really enjoyed the visit to the market. It reminded us very much of the Christmas markets we used to love to visit in Brussels and it is great that we have one on our own door-step now!
'It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas' as Murray keeps singing ....
