Celebrating St Patrick's Day in Dublin .....

Posted Mar 17 2013 6:15pm

Murray's Dad works in an office along the parade route so it was great to be able to sit inside away from the huge crowds and rain and watch the parade from the office windows.  Murray really appreciated being away from the huge crowds lining the pavements.

There was a pre-parade before the main parade with hundreds of people from around the world participating!  Murray loved the samba dancers from Brazil!

The main parade began with the Irish Army, the Lord Mayor's carriage and one of Murray's favourites - an Irish wolfhound with the Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band ...

Then came along the working dogs from An Garda Siochana (the Irish police force) and also their working horses.  Murray really loved this display of their working dogs and horses.  Clive and himself got very excited watching them all.

The parade was really colourful ....

Great displays like the 'giant jumper' kept Murray amused  ....

When the whale came down the street spraying water Murray really got excited ....

Murray really loved the marching bands ....

There were 16 altogether and they certainly kept the crowds entertained ...

Murray was amazed when the world's 'largest rag doll' appeared in the parade surrounded by lots of wonderful dancers ....

As many of our blogging friends know - Clive and Murray have a particular fondness for South Carolina - having visited twice, so they were very excited to see the Fort Mill marching band from South Carolina in the parade ....

The parade finished with lots more colour ....

and finally with the very best Marching Band of the day according to Murray - the Purdue "All American" Marching Band from Indiana!  He really loved that last band but we all did - they were superb and got everyone dancing!

It was a wet day in Dublin but that didn't hamper the celebrations one little bit ....

There were thousands and thousands of the people celebrating St Patrick's Day and Murray and Clive had a great time!

The parade was fantastic ....

Well done to everyone involved ....

Happy St Patrick's Day again from all the gang here ....
