I originally wrote this post in 2009.... Things have changed a bit so I wanted to give it an update.
I wanted to share some very helpful websites. These are especially important if you are new to the diagnosis!
FIRST and FOREMOST: Our DAN doctor is Dr. Kurt Woeller . We LOVE him! He has been phenomenal in supporting us in our efforts to recover Drew! Thank you Dr. Woeller!
Dr. Woeller has an amazing website with a TON of valuable information. He provides you with a basic step by step plan. The best part is that if you join his website (You do NOT have to be a patient), you have access to hundreds of messages between Dr. Woeller and other parents. So, you can see what he has suggested for other families and how it helped them.
Here's a starting place for camel milk Camel Milk- worth considering if you have a low weight kiddo and/ or are on GFCF and unable to tolerate any other kinds of milk. Camel milk is medicinal although I is a food; so be sure and go low and slow! Drew drinks 2-3 oz per day.
CEASE Therapy - a type of homeopathy sort of combining classical and sequential.
Homeopathy Center of Houston : A group of homeopaths devoted to helping to recover kids from autism. They use a sequential approach based on each child's individual timeline. We were clients and Drew made lots of gains!
GAPS diet - Gut and Psychology Syndrome. Very important diet to consider beyond GFCF! MANY recovered children needed this diet to futher their recovery.
Body Ecology Diet - Diet to consider if GFCF doesn't seem to be enough. This diet has really helped my son AND husband.
Pecanbread : Information on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD). We did this diet for 2.5 years. It is another diet to consider if GFCF doesn't seem to be enough. I do not recommend this diet for much longer than a year.
Currently, I belong to many Facebook groups... Let me know if you're interested....
