Sometimes someone on the spectrum presents very much like someone with ADHD. I have two children on the spectrum and a third with ADD, so I can see differences, though often they all have similar characteristics. It seems easier to assume a person with high functioning autism may have ADD than the other way around. If you think your child has one, or the other (or both), I'd definitely make a list of their symptoms, etc., and visit your doctor for a referral to a mental health profesional for an appropriate diagnosis.
