On June, 7, 2009 we will be at Nathan Philips Square in Toronto, Ontario for the Autism Speaks "Walk Now for Autism". We have decided to join the Autism Speaks walk this year to gather with and meet many autism contacts we have met over the years. We have also decided to walk with the "Autism Dog Services" team this year, as we recently received our service dog; Hunter!
The experience with an autism service dog has been great, so we want to show off our dog by walking with a great company for a great organization that brings a lot of attention to autism. Although everything Autism Speaks stand for or is a part of is not necessary something I agree with 100%, I do stand behind Autism Speaks as this organization is truly something I saw as soon as my child was diagnosed. It was also an enormous relief to see other parents expressing many of the same concerns, fears, experiences etc. Autism Speaks made me finally fell like I was not alone in this enormous world of Autism.
