Autism Speaks Puts Some Meat Into Their Fundraising

Someone tell us, is this a joke? A meat scented candle to raise money for Autism Speaks?
It's National Hamburger month and the White Castle chain of fast-food burger restaurants is putting an interesting spin on the celebration.
If you love the smell of burgers and onions, or just the distinct aroma of a White Castle fast-food joint, you can buy a White Castle candle for $10. The proceeds go to Autism Speaks, the country's largest autism advocacy group.
The White Castle candle might not be what you want burning in your home, especially if you are a vegetarian. However, the thought of buying a candle with the proceeds going to such a great cause outweighs the fact that most people probably don't want to burn a burger candle in their house. Or do they?
The candle is described by White Castle as a "Burger-and-onion-scented candle from Nest Fragrances infuses the home with the steam-grilled aroma of America’s first fast-food hamburger." Interesting.
You may not have to worry about buying one, however. Right now, the candle is sold out on the White Castle website. It sold out in one day and that's a good thing for Autism Speaks.
Hopefully they will produce more of these beefy candles and people will buy them strictly for the fact that the funds are going to good use. Lighting it is optional.
According to Autism Speaks, it is estimated that one in every 110 children is diagnosed with autism, making it more common than childhood cancer, juvenile diabetes and pediatric AIDS combined. An estimated 1.5 million individuals in the U.S. and tens of millions worldwide are affected by autism. From Examiner.com .
